FOREVER CLASS FIELD GUIDE
The Rogue, revisited.
Assassination, Combat and Subtlety offer different melee and stealth directions. Check costs, combo-point effects and utility before copying a build.
Returning-player checklist
- Read your current abilities and visit a trainer before planning around an old rotation.
- Choose a tree for the activity and role you enjoy. A levelling plan need not be a raid plan.
- Inspect prerequisite talents and point gates; unfamiliar combinations may be invalid.
- Review equipment stats in the current client rather than copying a Vanilla best-in-slot list.
What has changed?
Energy and combo-point play remain familiar, while new finishers, weapon access and deep-tree interactions change build planning.
New Assassination entries
The beta spellbook lists Mutilate as a talent ability available from level 30 and Venom as a level-40 talent entry. The latter is beyond the current beta cap.

Hemorrhage's effect
The Era comparison shows Forever Hemorrhage increasing the Rogue's Rupture damage by 15%, rather than the old limited-charge bonus to incoming Physical damage.

Expanded weapon access
The current class page marks axes as new weapon access in Forever. Check trainers and weapon requirements before purchasing a replacement weapon.

How we compare versions
Official class articles describe changes from original WoW. The maintained comparison database uses Classic Era 1.15.9.70003, with Season of Discovery-era tuning, rather than an untouched Vanilla client. Database-only differences below are labelled accordingly. Abilities beyond level 30 are future planning, outside the current beta cap.
Get familiar with your trees
Assassination
Compare Cold Blood, Mutilate and Venom. Read weapon requirements and energy costs before choosing your route through the tree.
Combat
Flawless Execution lowers Eviscerate's energy cost by 10. Compare its point gate with Blade Flurry and Adrenaline Rush.
Subtlety
Thousand Cuts links Rupture ticks to cheaper Hemorrhage or Backstab casts, with a stacking reduction. Plan around that interaction rather than an old raid debuff assumption.
Returning from Vanilla or Classic
Recheck Hemorrhage's purpose and your weapon choices. A familiar skill name may now support your own bleed damage instead of providing the remembered group effect.
Coming from Retail
Use Assassination, Combat and Subtlety as the Forever tree names. Read this version's stealth, positioning and weapon restrictions before transferring a Retail ability sequence.
Try this before your first group
- Check Backstab's weapon and positioning requirements.
- Inspect your current combo-point and energy costs before adding a finisher bind.
- Compare Mutilate's tooltip with the weapons you actually own.
