RETURNING PLAYER GUIDE
Welcome back to Azeroth.
A practical starting point for returning Vanilla and Classic players. Keep the memories, then recheck your talents, race choices and plans for the journey.
What is different?
| System | What you may remember | Forever beta |
|---|---|---|
| World | Original Azeroth | Original continents with new areas and stories |
| Character choice | Original race/class combinations | Skyborne and additional combinations |
| Builds | Vanilla talent recommendations | Revisited talent trees and beta tuning |
| Equipment | Established Vanilla lists | Updated stats and rewards: recheck each item |
Start with the version you are joining
Forever is a separate, continuing World of Warcraft experience alongside modern WoW and Classic. It builds on the original continents and level-60 world. Pick Forever in the launcher and check the official access instructions before making plans with friends.
Relearn your character before choosing a build
The familiar classes remain recognisable, but an old talent screenshot is not enough. Look at the current beta tree and read what each talent does. A familiar name can hide an adjusted effect.
- Compare your preferred class and role against its current talent trees.
- Check the available race/class combinations rather than assuming Vanilla restrictions.
- Treat levelling, dungeon and PvP builds as different choices; no single beta build is verified best for every activity.
Plan a route with room to explore
Use your knowledge of the original world as a starting point. New areas, stories and dungeon adventures can change the path you want to take. Keep your route flexible and collect relevant quests before travelling to a dungeon.
Check the equipment instead of trusting an old best-in-slot list
Forever revisits equipment and quest rewards. Read the stats on an item in the current client, consider your intended role, and avoid spending all your gold on a Vanilla gearing assumption.
Get a small group ready
Our recommendation is to agree a faction, decide which roles each friend enjoys, and arrange a first session that leaves time for trainers, professions and exploration. Share the launch guide rather than relying on screenshots of dates posted in different timezones.
