VANILLA VS FOREVER
Vanilla roots. A different adventure.
The comparison that sits behind every guide: what is familiar, what has changed, and which assumptions need checking in beta.
What is different?
| System | What you may remember | Forever beta |
|---|---|---|
| Talent milestones | 11, 21 and 31 points | Additional 16-point milestone |
| Specialisation | One active talent setup | Dual specialisation at level 40 |
| Equipment | Separate familiar stat categories | Itemisation changes: inspect current stats |
| World activity | Quests, crafting and groups | New stories, camping and Legacy |
| Playable race | Original race roster | Skyborne added; faction-specific class access |
The world remains the starting point
Forever begins in the early original-Azeroth era, rather than following every later expansion’s story. Its new content explores places and mysteries inside that setting. A familiar location can therefore have a different route, reward or story.
Talent trees preserve the outline, not every old answer
The old point-based style is recognisable, but classes have new and revised choices. Some class buffs move out of talents into the standard toolkit. Read current descriptions before copying a build.
The gearing puzzle is being revisited
The systems recap describes unified hit and critical-strike categories, changes to healing equipment, and revised drops. Those changes make old assumptions about hybrid equipment less reliable. Our advice is to compare the item in front of you with what your character needs now.
More reasons to stay in the world
Camping, expanded professions and Legacy offer additional activities alongside quests and dungeons. These are part of Forever’s design, not evidence that every feature from another version has been imported.
What we will not call confirmed
A client file can contain unfinished or unused content. We distinguish Blizzard announcements from the maintained community talent data used by our calculator. Speculative new classes, unverified boss strategies and unexplored quest chains are not presented as released content.
