FOREVER CLASS FIELD GUIDE
The Warlock, revisited.
Affliction, Demonology and Destruction organise damage-over-time, demon and direct-spell choices. Read current pet and spell interactions.
Returning-player checklist
- Read your current abilities and visit a trainer before planning around an old rotation.
- Choose a tree for the activity and role you enjoy. A levelling plan need not be a raid plan.
- Inspect prerequisite talents and point gates; unfamiliar combinations may be invalid.
- Review equipment stats in the current client rather than copying a Vanilla best-in-slot list.
What has changed?
Demons, damage-over-time effects and mana remain central, while Bane terminology and deep talent interactions change planning.
Read Bane and Curse restrictions
The comparison names the periodic effect Bane of Agony and its tooltip restricts the target to one Bane per Warlock. Read the separate Curse tooltips before assuming the old exclusivity rules.

New deep-tree spell entries
Incinerate and Wrack appear as level-40 talent abilities. They are present in beta data but outside the current playable level cap.

Sacrifice and summoning interact differently
Demonic Pact permits Demonic Sacrifice to persist when summoning a different Demon. Resummoning the sacrificed pet still cancels that effect.

How we compare versions
Official class articles describe changes from original WoW. The maintained comparison database uses Classic Era 1.15.9.70003, with Season of Discovery-era tuning, rather than an untouched Vanilla client. Database-only differences below are labelled accordingly. Abilities beyond level 30 are future planning, outside the current beta cap.
Get familiar with your trees
Affliction
Wrack adds a short Shadow effect that increases damage from your other Shadow damage-over-time effects on the target. Inspect its duration before planning refreshes.
Demonology
Compare Demonic Sacrifice, Soul Link and Demonic Pact. The selected demon and whether it was sacrificed are relevant to the current tooltip interactions.
Destruction
Compare Conflagrate, Bane of Havoc and Incinerate. Check prerequisites and spell availability rather than copying a Retail Destruction bar.
Returning from Vanilla or Classic
Re-read effect categories and pet-related talents. Do not import an old curse assignment or sacrifice build until you understand the new tooltip restrictions.
Coming from Retail
Use Forever's own mana, demon and effect rules. Familiar spells in the talent dataset do not establish a Retail resource system or rotation in this version.
Try this before your first group
- Read your Bane and Curse target restrictions.
- Check your demon's actual abilities before a group pull.
- Plan early talents separately from level-40 and deeper options.
