FOREVER CLASS FIELD GUIDE
The Warrior, revisited.
Arms and Fury focus on melee damage; Protection supports tanking. Relearn Rage, stance choices and threat.
Returning-player checklist
- Read your current abilities and visit a trainer before planning around an old rotation.
- Choose a tree for the activity and role you enjoy. A levelling plan need not be a raid plan.
- Inspect prerequisite talents and point gates; unfamiliar combinations may be invalid.
- Review equipment stats in the current client rather than copying a Vanilla best-in-slot list.
What has changed?
Rage, stance switching and shield play receive practical changes without replacing Arms, Fury and Protection.
Rage and mitigation
Blizzard says armour and absorbs no longer suppress Rage from incoming damage. Outgoing Rage is normalised around weapon speed. Beta Rage bugs were acknowledged in the class article.

Stance switching and recovery
Tactical Mastery becomes baseline at level 14, retaining 10 Rage. Victory Rush arrives at level 20, with a heal following a qualifying kill.

A shield changes your options
Thunder Clap can be used in Defensive Stance. The Vanguard talent enables Charge in that stance.

How we compare versions
Official class articles describe changes from original WoW. The maintained comparison database uses Classic Era 1.15.9.70003, with Season of Discovery-era tuning, rather than an untouched Vanilla client. Database-only differences below are labelled accordingly. Abilities beyond level 30 are future planning, outside the current beta cap.
Get familiar with your trees
Arms
Inspect Spearing Strike, Sweeping Strikes and Mortal Strike rather than assuming your old weapon-specialisation path still applies.
Fury
Raging Blows makes Whirlwind include an off-hand strike and lowers Cleave's Rage cost. This is a specific dual-wield interaction, not proof that dual wield is always stronger.
Protection
Vanguard changes engagement options. Shield Slam remains the deep-tree choice; check its prerequisites before planning a tank allocation.
Returning from Vanilla or Classic
Rebuild stance-switching binds around baseline Tactical Mastery. Discuss absorbs with your healer using the updated Rage rules, then test recovery and resource flow on ordinary enemies.
Coming from Retail
Read the Forever versions of familiar names before copying keybind priorities. Spend points across the three Classic-style trees; this page is a transition guide into Forever, not a Retail rotation guide.
Try this before your first group
- Use Charge, change stance and observe retained Rage.
- Compare incoming Rage while shielded during a controlled pull.
- Try Victory Rush after a qualifying kill before increasing pull size.
